Our Core Values

Values of The Movement Church of San Antonio

Love = Living Our Values Everyday

1. Truth – The Movement maintains its doctrinal purity by subscribing to the major tenants of evangelical theology.

2. Missions – The Movement will unleash generous amounts of compassion on people who are helpless, harassed, and living like sheep without a shepherd, (Mark 6:34). It observes no boarders or boundaries. It will not become stagnant, self-absorbed or institutionalized.

3. Life Change – The Movement recognizes that a transformed life is the greatest witness to the watching world. It will rejoice with the angels of heaven whenever one sinner is saved from the ravages of sin and death. It will celebrate when each person unlocks the door to the abundant life Christ promised His followers.

4. Vision – The Movement itself was born out of a vision during an extended time of seeking God’s face. Likewise, The Movement will be filled with believers who long to see the glory of God invading their personal lives. The Movement’s vision is to deliver people, multiply disciples, and unify the bride of Christ.

5. Iconoclastic – Movements generally follow this four step trajectory: From movement to monument to museum to morgue. In order for The Movement to remain a movement, it will follow the winds of the Spirit and focus on what God is doing in the moment. It will resist the psychological power of nostalgia to transform what God did yesterday into a monument that holds center stage. We celebrate what God is doing in the moment, day by day. We do not focus on what lies behind. We press on to lay hold of that for which Christ laid hold of us, (Phil. 3:12). We keep the focus on the filling of the Spirit and the fruit of the Spirit, today, here and now.

6. Humility – We do not think more highly of ourselves than we do others. We avoid power plays, status seeking, controlling maneuvers, and corporate structures. When we go to war, it is against the enemy of this Dark Age. We have been supplied with weapons that are not of this world. We are guaranteed victory through Christ who conquered sin and Satan on the cross.

7. Relationships – Jesus demonstrated that discipleship happens best through relationships. He built community and galvanized relationships. Jesus made disciples out of men by living and sharing His life with them. This is at the heart of what society is yearning for today. People are looking for something to believe in and a place where they belong. We long to be part of a tribe where we can live transparently and speak honestly about our struggles. We desperately need the accountability of brothers and sisters who have the permission to watch and speak into our lives. The strongest bonds are formed when Christ is at the center of the relationship. We believe that friendship creates the best fellowship.

8. Home – A church can exist in your home. The early church started in homes. There is no better environment than the home to nurture Christian families and build a prevailing church. When house churches are networked together as they were through the Apostles of the New Testament, they increase their visibility, influence, and their ability to advance the Kingdom of God.

9. Celebration – The Movement comes together collectively once a week to celebrate how God is moving among and within us, to share the miracles of life-change that happened throughout the week, to hear relevant teaching from the Word of God, and to cast vision for the future of The Movement.

10. Commitment – We are committed to supporting the needs of the church that meets in your home. As did the early church, we share our resources to seize opportunities, and multiply our efforts. We surrender our spiritual gifts, abilities, and talents to be used by The Movement for the glory of God. Where we are weak, we commit to the renewing of His strength. Where we are foolish, we commit to receive from His treasure trove of wisdom. Where we are challenged we commit to wait upon the Lord.
