Movement Church at Shavano Park

A New Church Near Shavano Park

The Movement Church of San Antonio is located near Shavano Park. Recently, we have begun meeting in homes. Our services begin at 10:30 AM every Sunday morning and last a little over an hour. Though our church is new, it is growing and reaching out to many people who are seeking a new faith adventure.

What really drives our church is our sense of mission. We are disciple makers to the core. The life and ministry of Jesus Christ has inspired us to be an equipping church. We train believers how to train others to obey His Great Commission.

Matthew 28:18-20 (NIV) Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

We meet in home groups, or tribes as we prefer to call them, throughout the week. In this setting, you will be able to develop a real sense of Christian community with other believers. You will learn how to follow Christ in an environment that is structured for your personal growth. Our church is not the kind of place where people sit and listen, pass the time, and then come back to do it all over again the next week. We want you to experience what it means to “be” the church, and not just be a spectator in some audience.

If you are a believer who feels there is so much more to the Christian life than simply “going to church,” if you are burned out on spectator religion, if you have more Bible knowledge than real power to apply it on a daily basis, then you need to pray about visiting the Movement Church. We are on a mission to love God, love people and reach our world.

My name is James Shupp. I’m the founding pastor of our new church. My promise to you is that I will plug you in to what God is doing through the Movement to reach the city of San Antonio for Jesus Christ. I would love to meet you for a cup of coffee, have a phone conversation or simply correspond through email. I am available and very easy to reach, simply because I believe in our shared vision.
