Movement Church Campus Ministry
The way we look at it, Jesus was very serious about the Great Commission.
Matthew 28:18-20 (NIV) Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.
We have a simple focus in our new church. We want to equip men and women, and especially college students, to start a Church Planting Movement (CPM). And here’s what that looks like. We will train you so that you can train others to be disciples of Jesus Christ. The strategy we use comes out of CPM’s on the international mission field all across the world.
Our small groups, or tribes as we call them, meet during the week for the purpose of equipping and sending people to reach those who are far away from God. We focus on the strategy that Jesus used to reach the “uttermost part of the earth.” This is the lifeblood of what we do. Also, tribes are a fun way to hangout, get help in your Christian walk and be part of something that is growing God’s kingdom.
Like Chi Alpha, we are not about going to church, but being the church. We are not building the typical attractional model for ministry. The New Testament word for “Church” cannot be defined in terms of a location or even the time when people gather. The church is the bride and the body of Christ, wherever and whenever it meets. But when it gathers to fulfill the Great Commission, the gates of hell will not overcome it.
We also have a public worship service on Sunday at 10:30 AM. As a House Church Network, we’re currently meeting in homes. I would love to talk with you about our vision and how you can play a role in it. The students of San Antonio College have the potential to become part of the next great movement of God in this world. Facilitating this is one of the reasons the Movement Church was established.
