Our Pastor
James Shupp has been pastoring churches for nearly 30 years. They have ranged in size from the very small to the very large. If you were to ask him what he enjoys most about the ministry, he would say, Just helping hurting people, especially those who have given up hope or faith, or the belief that things can improve.
His core conviction is best summed up by his statement, The Gospel of Jesus Christ is most relevant where the needs are the greatest. That means our city is ripe for harvest. Let’s be a Great Commission Church!
James has been married to Cherry for 29 years. After raising their two sons a little over a year ago, God gave them both a vision to plant a new church—one that dreamed big and dared to reimagine the old ways. The Movement Church of San Antonio was born on January 1, 2014 with a vision to reach the hurting and confused, and to love all people unconditionally. The color of your skin or the depth of your sin makes no difference to us, he says. Help us create a new church culture—one saturated by the grace of God, the compassion of Jesus, and the power of the Holy Spirit. Read More
