Churches in San Antonio
Are you searching for churches in San Antonio? The big three megachurches that people seem to talk about the most are: Community Bible Church, Oak Hills Church, and Cornerstone Church. There are other large to medium-sized churches, but these three get the most press here in Alamo City.
There are over 2,000 churches in the San Antonio area. That may sound like a lot, but when you consider a total metro population of over 2.1 million, the statistics are not overwhelming. Suppose everyone in the area went to a particular church every Sunday morning. This would mean that each church would have an average attendance of 1,050 people. The typical church doesn’t have that much worship space or parking accommodations.
At the Movement Church of San Antonio, we see things a little differently. Our strategy is to gather believers in homes or house churches. This may sound like a crazy idea on the surface, but consider these realities:
- Originally, New Testament churches met in homes.
- House churches build highly relational environments.
- We never focus on raising money for new buildings.
- There is no overhead for facilities, maintenance, etc.
- Making disciples is easier in smaller groups.
- Planting a new church only requires finding a new home.
- Discussion-based learning is more likely to occur.
- Potluck meals, BBQ fellowships, Coffee, and Donuts. Yum!
I could add to this list, but what I like most are the people we invite into our home. The fellowship is always sweet. Journeying through the Christian life with people who walk through your front door every Sunday is a blessing. My wife and I love the experience we’ve had planting house churches.
So if you found this our webpage while searching for “churches in San Antonio,” why not try something off the beaten path. Don’t you love it when you find a restaurant with amazing food, a great atmosphere, and the service is fantastic? It’s so much better than chicken-in-a-box, or burger-on-the-run. We all need to feast on the Word of God in order to grow as Believers. At the Movement Church of San Antonio, we don’t serve fast-food religion.
So drop on in and dine with us. We have a comfortable couch where you can park your weary soul. My wife will greet you with her bright smile and trademark hospitality. I’ll lead you in a Bible-based discussion. You’ll grow, learn, be filled, and perhaps, even amazed.
Of all the churches in San Antonio, there’s not another one like us.
We enthusiastically invite you to join us this Sunday at 10:30 AM
